Breather the rewards are there as an incentive to keep you going. Sounds like they're doing their job with you! Sounds like you could have the winter blahs - here's me sending you a little sunshine and heat from Aussie land!!
Moss - sounds like a very interesting article. I'm gonna Google.

Thank you everyone. You're the best. I didn't realise there was that many replies and all are appreciated. I hope that wasn't the winter blahs already. Today's been easier than the last few. I've been thinking that the reason I don't even want to smoke is that I'd be giving up the rewards. I don't want to give up the rewards if that sounds right to anybody. The rewards are important to me now. More important than a lousy smoke. Rewarding yourself for not hurting yourself is making a lot of sense now. Anyway , thought I'd say that the worst is over ( for now ) and thank you. Be kind to yourselves. breather 79 Addict still 0

Breather, sorry it is a little hard now, but it is so much better than smoking. Think about all the stuff you have to do to smoke one cigarette. First you have to buy the dam things, cost way to much. Then you go thru the do I really want to this. Then you will think about what you are going to through away. And then where are you going to smoke and how are you going to hide it, tired yet? Then you will stink, and want to punch something. See it is so much easier not to smoke, so hang in there. Oh yeah review HALT :-)
Keep the Quit

Keep up the fight! The road will always be filled with bumps, nothing that you cannot overcome! You are doing great...review your quit plan, revise your strategies if need be, and keep posting here for support. Impressive stats btw, I think a reward is in order !
Hey Breather, yup, anniversary craves come when you least expect them. It's the junkie trying to win you back, and he's really underhanded, he'll try anything! Remember that and you'll be fine. Kick his ash to the curb!

Hey Breather. Hang in there - I know it's tough, but it will get better. You're approaching another milestone, so maybe that has something to do with it. 80 days - wow!! Keep your chin up and trust us when we say "it will get better". We wouldn't lie to you - it will. Hugs from Jazz
Moss, wonderful to see you again. I hope all is well with you. (where can I sign up for the brain readjustment?)
My Milage:
My Quit Date: 1/3/2008 Smoke-Free Days: 392 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 7,840 Amount Saved: $2,979.20 Life Gained: Days: 42 Hrs: 19 Mins: 35 Seconds: 20
That is how it went for me too. I would think I finally had it licked and BAM, I would have a few rough days again. I can only share that those days do become less frequent and intense. I read an article a couple weeks ago that talked about the average time for the brain to readjust and to produce a balance with the dopamine, etc. is around 4 to 6 months for most quitters. I don't think that is true for everyone but this study was based on a large group.
I know this doesn't help you feel better when the dragon is knocking but hopefully can help put the bad days in perspective.
Good Wishes Don!!

Not necessarily Breather- it will get easier and easier and the hard times will become less and less. The main thing is you've done 79 days so the hard times you are managing-just as MM says, be on your guard though.
