Last week, i found that going outside and getting breathing fresh air helped me as well as gum chewing. I loved coming in and not being about to smell smoke on my coat. I noticed last week getting ready for work in the morning i no longer had anxiety. Normally i would. "Will i get to work on time to have my 2-3 cigarettes to unwind before i have to start work." I don't know if this is normal so early or what, but i love not having those anxiety butterflies in my stomach.

I sit down in a comfy chair and read. it will distract from any smoking thoughts as you travel into the world of the characters in the book.
I also chew sugarless gum and chew on straws.
I also post on SCC!

I think I am still stressed.. Just paying attention to the stress & trying to find something to calm me down, distract etc.......
I love to exercise, but unfortunately I can not just leave work & take a jog in my high heels....
Deep breathing or smoking a plastic straw is working so far!!

I think I used to say I was stressed, or made myself think I was stressed as an excuse to smoke. Everyone picks their own battles and does what they want with them.
I am going to have to agree with everyone else too. I am way less stressed now. :)

Well, I didn't realize it until today but I was comfort eating.
What I did instead today was go outside and play - so i'm thinking that activity/excercise might be a good recourse for some of us.

Deep breathing helps a lot. I do all the things I used to do, except smoke. I take a break from the situation, go outside (maybe step out onto the balcony :eg:) or find a distraction until I can calm down & address the problem.
I'm actually way less sressed out and irritable now than when I smoked. I never would have believed that, but there you go.

I found owning up to my feelings (stress) made it more manageable. Deep breathing also works for me. Avoid the situation if at all possible.
Keep the Quit

Hey Josie,
I am a big fan of deep breathing. I also find exercise helps a great deal. The holidays are behide us now and I just can't believe I came through all that stress without smoking. I think I even felt better.
